Requirements of VoIP Infrastructure

Dec 17, 2015, Categories: Blog, News

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) provides many users with the opportunity of making phone calls using the internet instead of other traditional phone systems. VoIP is very common in business, personal and enterprise communication. This uses communication devices connected to the internet to convert voice patterns into digital packets and send them to other computers through internet routers. To achieve this, VoIP uses a combination of hardware and software infrastructure.

The requirements of VoIP infrastructure

For VoIP infrastructure to work well, it needs several things to achieve proper functioning of the system. Internet connection is a very important resource for VoIP. Without the internet, VoIP cannot function because its users can only send encrypted voice packages over internet protocols.Online Generator Little alchemist Gems

VoIP infrastructure needs a Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM), which transforms voice signals into multiple sections to facilitate encoding, packaging into packets and sending the packets over the least crowded internet routes. Therefore, the DSLAM performs an opposite function on the VoIP signal’s receiving end by reassembling messages into their original orders.

H.323 and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) protocols are digital languages that enhance the transfer of VoIP messages from the sender to the receiver and back using the internet backbone. Installation of one of these protocols on the communicating computers’ hard drives can be local or on the server of the service provider. This depends on the systems that exist for transmitting and receiving VoIP transmissions.

Broadband Remote Access Server (BRAS) distinguishes data traffic from VoIP traffic to ensure the detection and direction of digital VoIP signals to DSLAM at the receiving end of the message.

An Analog Terminal Adapter (ATA) is not necessary for VoIP, but it permits users to connect to standard analog telephones to VoIP junction boxes. ATA provides a seamless interface to the user for VoIP connectivity by converting IP addresses into telephone numbers while allowing users to use this just as one would use a conventional telephone.

Enterprise VoIP is essential for big companies that need many infrastructures. These companies need sophisticated servers at their headquarters, with connections to other server stations in their branch offices. The infrastructure requirements for enterprise VoIP are such as fax machines, multiplex switches for handling many telephones, PBX devices and printers among others including the software required to run the telephone system.

VoIP Infrastructure flexibility and Scalability

VoIP infrastructure offers flexible and scalable communication, which gives the providers the chance of integrating new multimedia and voice services to provide their clients with the telephony systems that they need. The infrastructure provides support to the existing phone system and the future system that the company might want to adopt as it grows or expands. In addition, the existing VoIP infrastructure provides room for the addition of new user devices into the telephone systems for achievement of effective communication.
